Fetal medicine is the sub specialty branch of obstetric and gynecology includes the care of fetus start from the conception till delivery. We consider fetus as a separate patient so the diagnosis and the treatment is possible in utero.

Fetal medicine includes start from the high end scan to detect the condition of the fetus and needful managenent accordingly .in this advanced era there are so many modalities and techniques to use for the diagnosis and the treatment of the fetus.

Dear friends, In this fast growing era everybody wants to beat the competition and for that the higher education is needed because of that ,late marriages are there and in turn postponing the planning of baby .planning the baby after 30 yrs of age may cause some chromosomally abnormal conceptions.sometime what happens nature abort that pregnancy before it clinically diagnosed.afterall survival for the fittest is the rule.but sometimes baby grow inside with that condition and we may have abnormal child like downs child .so we have to be cautious about that.

Commonly occurring chromosome related syndromes are down syndrome(trisomy 21),edword(trisomy 18) and patau”s syndrome(trisimy 13).if the baby comes with this syndomes it will be social burden to the society and the parents .screening is not 100% identifying the conditions but definitely helping for the 95% cases.so one should go for screening scan at 11 to 14 weeks of pregnancy. this is the perfect timing for screening. as per the standards of fetal medicine foundation evaluation of the risk is done in consideration of the mother age and the sonography markers,and then come the overall risk to go for the further diagnostics or invasive procedures.screening scan is only done in this period that is 11 to14 weeks of pregnancy.if this piriod is missed the risk calculation will not be there
