Standard fees at Mayflower Clinic

Consultation and scans

ItemFee
Consultation₹500
Genetic consultation₹1,000
Follow-up consultation₹500
Viability scan / early pregnancy scan₹1,500
NT scan (nuchal translucency, 11–13+6 weeks)₹2,500
Targeted anomaly scan (TIFFA)₹3,500
Fetal echocardiography₹3,500
Growth scan with Doppler₹2,500
3D / 4D scan₹4,500

Procedures and surgeries — including amniocentesis, chorionic villus sampling and fetal therapy — are quoted individually as an estimate after a clinical assessment, because what is involved differs from patient to patient and because the genetic laboratory charge depends on which test is indicated. Blood tests, first-trimester markers, NIPT and genetic laboratory work are billed by the laboratory that performs them, not by the clinic.

The consultation fee is charged in addition to the scan fee. They are listed separately above because they are separate things, and we would rather you read that here than find it at the counter.

These charges can be changed at any time without prior notice. Fees reviewed on 1 September 2026 — please confirm the current charge with the clinic reception before you travel. WhatsApp +91 8087471244 or call 0712-669-2706 and you will be told what applies to your visit. No advance payment is taken to book.

The question everybody actually has

Why the same scan costs ₹900 in one place and ₹3,500 in another

This is a fair question and it deserves a straight answer rather than silence.

Advertised prices for a mid-pregnancy anomaly scan in Nagpur start under ₹1,000. In Nashik the same scan is advertised from above ₹4,000. That is a more than fourfold spread inside one state for something with a single name, and it is not explained by rent or equipment. It is explained by the fact that "anomaly scan" describes several different examinations.

A detailed fetal anatomy scan means examining the brain, face, spine, heart and its outflow tracts, lungs, diaphragm, abdominal wall, stomach, kidneys, bladder, limbs, hands and feet, the placenta, the cord and the amniotic fluid, and measuring growth. Done properly it takes time, and a substantial part of it — the fetal heart in particular — depends heavily on the experience of the person holding the probe. A scan booked into a fifteen-minute slot and one booked for forty minutes are not the same examination, whatever the report is headed.

There is a second difference that never appears in any price. At a volume diagnostic centre, the scan is often acquired by a technician, reported by a radiologist you will not meet, and handed back to you as paper. If it is normal, that works. If it is not, you now need an appointment with someone who can tell you what it means, a fetal echo, possibly an invasive test, and a plan — each of which is a further visit and a further fee, arranged by you, at a moment when you are least able to organise anything.

Here, the person performing the scan is the person who interprets it, explains it to you in the room, decides what test is indicated next, and manages the pregnancy afterwards. When you compare our fee with a lower one, that is the actual difference you are pricing.

What we are not claiming. A cheaper scan is not automatically a worse one, and paying more does not guarantee a better outcome — no scan of any price can promise a healthy baby. Ultrasound has real limits, and a normal detailed scan reduces the likelihood of a structural problem without excluding it. What a higher fee buys is time, the experience of the person scanning, and continuity if something is found. It does not buy certainty, and any clinic suggesting otherwise is misleading you.

Line by line

What each fee covers

Viability / early pregnancy scan — ₹1,500

Confirms an intrauterine pregnancy, a heartbeat and the number of embryos, usually from around six to nine weeks. Commonly requested after bleeding, pain, or a previous loss. Related: the dating scan, which establishes gestational age more precisely a little later.

NT scan — ₹2,500

The nuchal translucency scan at 11 to 13 weeks and 6 days, measuring nuchal translucency and assessing early anatomy as part of first-trimester screening. First-trimester blood markers, where advised, are a laboratory charge and are separate.

Targeted anomaly scan (TIFFA) — ₹3,500

The detailed anatomy scan at 18 to 22 weeks, examining fetal structures system by system, with growth, placenta and liquor. This is the scan the section above is about. If a finding needs a second opinion on an abnormal scan, that is a consultation in its own right.

Fetal echocardiography — ₹3,500

A dedicated examination of the fetal heart, indicated where there is a family history of congenital heart disease, maternal diabetes, certain medicines, an abnormal nuchal translucency, or a suspicion raised at the anatomy scan. Performed by Dr. Kunda rather than referred out.

3D / 4D — ₹4,500

3D and 4D imaging is used where it adds diagnostic information — a facial cleft, a limb or spinal abnormality, clarifying something seen in 2D. It is an adjunct to the targeted anomaly scan, never a replacement for it, and it is not offered here as a keepsake or photography service.

Stated plainly

What is not included, and what is quoted separately

The most common reason a family is surprised by a prenatal bill is not the scan fee. It is the charges nobody mentioned that sit alongside it. So:

Included in the fee above

  • The scan itself, performed by Dr. Kunda Shahane
  • The findings explained to you at the time, in the room
  • The written report
  • Being told what the next step is, if there is one

Charged separately

  • The consultation, when you are seen as well as scanned
  • Blood tests and first-trimester markers — billed by the laboratory
  • NIPT and genetic laboratory tests — billed by the laboratory
  • Karyotype, QF-PCR or microarray after an invasive procedure
  • Amniocentesis, CVS and fetal therapy — estimated after assessment, and charged in addition to the consultation and the scan
  • Hospital charges for any procedure performed at hospital
  • Medicines and pharmacy items

For amniocentesis and other invasive procedures you are given the estimate — procedure and laboratory together — before you consent, not afterwards. If the estimate matters to a decision you are making, say so and it will be given to you first.

Other clinic charges

Non-pregnancy items

ItemFee
Basic dressing and stitch removal₹1,000
Extensive dressing₹3,000

Gynaecological consultations are charged at the standard consultation fee above. Charges for gynaecological procedures and surgery are quoted after assessment, in the same way as obstetric procedures.

Questions about cost

Frequently asked questions

How much does an anomaly scan cost in Nagpur?

At Mayflower Clinic the targeted anomaly scan, also called the TIFFA scan or Level II scan, is ₹3,500. Advertised prices elsewhere in the city start under ₹1,000, and in other Maharashtra cities the same scan is advertised above ₹4,000. That range does not describe one product priced differently — it describes different examinations sharing a name, which the section above explains in detail.

How much is an NT scan?

₹2,500 for the nuchal translucency scan at 11 to 13 weeks and 6 days. Where first-trimester blood markers are advised alongside it, those are a laboratory test billed by the laboratory and are not included in this figure.

What does the fetal echo cost?

₹3,500 for fetal echocardiography. It is performed by Dr. Kunda Shahane, who holds the Fetal Medicine Foundation (London) qualification, rather than being referred out to a cardiologist and scheduled separately.

Is the consultation charged on top of the scan?

Yes. The consultation fee is charged in addition to the scan fee — they are separate things, and the clinic states so rather than leaving you to discover it at the desk. A consultation is time with Dr. Kunda discussing your pregnancy and deciding what is needed; a scan is the examination itself. When you book, describe what has been advised and you will be told exactly what applies to your visit before you travel. Nothing is added afterwards that you were not told about first.

Why is the scan more expensive here than at a diagnostic centre?

Because it is a different examination. At this clinic the scan is performed by Dr. Kunda Shahane herself — MS in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, with fetal medicine training and the FMF London qualification — not acquired by a technician and reported later by someone who never met you. A targeted anomaly scan is booked for the time it actually takes to examine fetal anatomy properly. Findings are explained while you are still in the room. And if something is found, the person who found it is the person who will explain it, decide what test comes next and manage the pregnancy — that is not a separate appointment with a separate fee.

What do amniocentesis, CVS and other procedures cost?

These are quoted individually after a clinical assessment, because what is involved differs genuinely from patient to patient. Four charges stack here and it is better to see that written down than to meet it at the counter: the consultation, the scan, the procedure itself, and the genetic laboratory charge — karyotype, QF-PCR or microarray — which depends on which test is indicated. Medicines are separate again. You will be given the full estimate covering all of it before you consent to anything.

Are the laboratory and genetic test charges included?

No. Blood tests, first-trimester markers, NIPT and genetic laboratory work are billed by the laboratory that performs them, not by the clinic. This is stated plainly because a quoted procedure price that silently excludes the laboratory charge is the most common reason families are surprised by a prenatal bill.

Do you accept card payments or insurance?

Cash and UPI are accepted. Outpatient scans and consultations are generally not covered by health insurance policies in India, though hospital procedures may be — check with your insurer rather than assuming either way.

Do I have to pay in advance to book an appointment?

No. No advance payment is taken to book. You pay at the clinic for what is actually done.

Will you tell me the price before I come?

Yes. WhatsApp +91 8087471244 describing what has been advised, or call 0712-669-2706, and you will be told what applies to your visit before you travel. Many patients come from outside Nagpur and it is unreasonable to make that journey without knowing.

Is a 3D or 4D scan medically necessary?

Usually not. 3D and 4D imaging is an adjunct used where it adds diagnostic information — assessing a facial cleft, a limb or spinal abnormality, or clarifying a finding seen on the standard scan. It does not replace the targeted anomaly scan and it is not offered here as a keepsake or photography service. Where it is not clinically useful, Dr. Kunda will say so rather than sell it to you.

Are these charges fixed?

No. These are the standard fees displayed at the clinic reception, reviewed on 1 September 2026, and they can be changed at any time without prior notice. Please confirm the current charge with the clinic reception, on WhatsApp or by phone, before you travel — particularly if you are reading this page some months after that date.

Coming from outside Nagpur

A large proportion of the families seen here travel — from across Vidarbha, and from Chhindwara, Betul, Balaghat and further into Madhya Pradesh. If you are making that journey, message before you set out with what has been advised and roughly how many weeks pregnant you are. You will be told what the visit will cost, how long it will take, and whether the scan should be done at a different gestation to be worth doing at all. Travelling for a scan performed at the wrong week is a waste of your day and your money.
